Working with the Jotun

The Jotun in all their variations are vessels of chaos and disorder. When working with them it is best to be prepared for the unexpected to happen. In general, the Jotun is good with teaching the practitioner chaos magick, illusion work, nature magick, minor shapeshifting, connecting with the primordial forces, becoming an unstoppable force of nature, and bringing forth primordial abilities.

Fire giants: These Jotuns are beings of heat and destruction. They are capable of teaching pyrokinesis, scrying through flames, destroying aspects of oneself, deconstructing anything that has been formed, becoming fluid in one’s body, can be called on to increase the temperature of a given area, can cause the utter destruction of an area or given target without remorse, and they have the capability to spread their influence at a rapid rate.

Ice giants: These jotuns are very capable of teaching how to bind one’s enemies, the true nature of the Isa rune, cryokinetic abilities, using the ice for scrying and divination, and calling upon the skies for snow and hail. These giants can decrease the temperature of the area around them. They are very meticulous and will destroy a target after binding them so as to receive no retaliation. They can teach how to solidify anything from an idea to bring it into reality to the formation of the person you want to be.

Becoming a Jotun: The following is a simple process that destroys the current form that the individual has and reforms them into a Jotun. The process itself is simple, go to Muspilheim and deconstruct your astral to be reformed into that of a Jotun, then quickly go to Niflheim to solidify the transformation. It is recommended to do this once you are confident in your capabilities to remain conscious so as to not lose yourself during the process or to do it with the supervision of Surtur for the more dangerous part of Muspilheim.

Shapeshifting: One of the more noted abilities of the Jotun is their ability to shapeshift. This topic is going to be expanded on in some upcoming work but in short, the way the Jotun shapeshift is a mixture between physical shapeshifting and illusion work. For the physical aspect, at least through becoming a Jotun, they are able to increase their size, weight, and various physical features to a certain extent. But when they begin to incorporate animalistic shapeshifting there is some illusion work that is mixed in. the illusion is cast on both the practitioner as well as any possible observers which will grant the appearance of a human-animal hybrid. But being able to accomplish that does take years of practice while the simple human alteration can take a shorter time span.

Kinetic abilities: When working with the Jotun as well as becoming one, the practitioner can gain the opportunity to become a specific kind of jotun. The main area is fire and ice corresponding with the Norse current. With this feat of pyrokinesis and cryokinesis will become more accessible to the practitioner. Like shapeshifting, it will become an extension of oneself in which no ritual will be needed and a simple thought will be enough.
